Self-compassion is medicine to guide us through challenging times. Instead of criticizing and judging ourselves during difficulties, we choose to comfort ourselves with kindness - the way we would a family member or dear friend. Sadly, many of us believe that berating ourselves will motivate and help us accomplish more - leading to happiness. Research indicates that this simply isn't true. Because our default is to disapprove of ourselves, this habit takes practice and patience.​
